my Saturdays are getting better.

The Saturday before last night was about spontaneous videoke because a friend from law school won P5,000 as a studio partner for The Price is Right that same night.

Poetic Sojourn - 4 March 2011

Last night was about hanging out with this group of people from my block who happen to either play an instrument or sing... or both. The group has come to call itself "On Deck," perhaps to have just one name [that's interesting] to call when the group is called up to the stage to perform. So, yeah, On Deck's played on stage a few times, mostly at block get-togethers, once at an annual party for the students of the evening program [that party was epic, btw], several times for school events, once for an inter-school event.

Practicing for Two for Taft - 20 February 2011

I say I only "hang out" with them for a couple of reasons - first, because I wasn't really an original "member" of the group, so to speak, and second, because On Deck was never about being an exclusive band or anything like that. It's more of an open group for people who like music - like a club or an org, except that we're not official and we don't hand out flyers asking others to join us and stuff.

2012E Dinner Party - 9 April 2011

The group was first formed back in freshman year, and I didn't get around to joining them then because (1) I didn't have my own guitar; and (2) it was not my thing to tell people that I liked singing or tinkering with the guitar. One day, they asked me to come and "hang out" with them, after my having revealed in class that I used to be in a band [or whatever it was we aspired it to be] in college.

Anyway, we were hanging out last night again, not to practice or anything, but to play music for the heck of it. It was a nice night :)

I was at Uncle Moe's again last night. I brought two blockmates who had never been there. I can't seem to get enough of the the place.

Last Thursday was the deadline our SLR (supervised legal research) adviser set for the submission of our topic, and my partner Mateng and I managed to come up with a topic, figure out the materials to use, think about who to interview, make a very rough outline, and write a decent abstract of sorts - in just over an hour and a half over YM.

Mateng had been my seatmate and study buddy for three years until this semester, my internship buddy last summer, and my go-to person for things academic and otherwise. She probably knows me better than anyone in law school without having to ask for it. And she's probably going to be my hotel roommate during the bar exams and still be my go-to person when we're practicing lawyers [except maybe if that future we had imagined, where she'd be the prosecutor assigned to the same court where I'd be assigned as the public attorney, would come true haha].

We're alike in many ways, including the fact that we happen to function very well when we're pressed for time. I've a feeling this SLR paper's going to do very well, if only for the fact that Mateng also happens to be one of the smartest people I know. Hehe.
